CQL was contracted by the Government of Northwest Territories to level three RCMP buildings in the community of Paulatuk. Two of the three buildings sit on a Triodetic (space frame) system. These buildings have experienced major settlement over the last 10 years, in some locations the settling up to 4 inches. This caused the buildings to experience a level differential of up to 3″. In order to minimize the settlement the building will experience in the future CQL raised the building with hydraulic jacks, inserted pressure treated pads under each base plate and levelled the building. The presence of the pressure treated pads will spread out the load each base plate is putting on the soil and in turn minimize the unwanted settlement in the future. A total of 113 pads were inserted under the two buildings foundation.
