Canadian Quest Logistics (CQL) Inc. is pleased to present the hamlet of Aklavik with this project proposal for the Bickish Road Erosion Feasibility Plan, project. We understand the unique challenges facing the hamlet, after the flood of 2006, when there was extensive damage to the road. The community drainage was affected by the Spring break up from the Peel River, and it has been assessed that an ice jam may have caused the May 26 – June 1, 2006 flooding of the hamlet. The hamlet is seeking to focus on improvements to Bickish Road, which may serve, as a main evacuation route should there be a flooding recurrence.
Our goal is to investigate the issues affecting the Bickish Road, identify the present problems affecting the road, examine the potential to expand the road, as well as a needs analysis for extending the useful life of the road, by 20 years. Should our proposal prove successful, we intend to have detailed designs completed by August 30, 2013, at a total cost to be determined.
We believe that by selecting our company, you will have an Inuvik, northern-based engineering company, with experience in Northern road design and construction. We have included preliminary road profiles and elevations (see Appendix A), as a demonstration of how we value this project and to demonstrate our engineering competence and suitability for this project. Our project team’s resumes are detailed in Appendix B.
Our unique ability to find engineering solutions to the most demanding challenges, and our successful track record, most recently (April 2013), in the road and drainage upgrades in the hamlet of Paulatuk makes us an invaluable partner in your Bickish Road erosion planning. We look forward to forming a mutually rewarding relationship with your hamlet of Aklavik, on this project.
